Is a Car Seat Liner Actually Crash Tested? What to Check Before You Buy.

Someone commented on one of our videos recently: "So safety isn't a factor for us? Cool!"

Fair enough. Here's the honest answer.

What "crash tested" actually means

Not every product that claims to be tested has actually been through independent testing. Some brands test in-house. Some don't test at all. Before you buy any car seat liner, it's worth asking exactly what testing was done, by whom and against which standard.

Dynamic crash testing

The Luxe Liner was dynamically tested with a Type G forward-facing child restraint. This assessment looked specifically at how the liner performed with the child restraint during impact, not just how it looked or felt.

Flammability and toxicity testing

Materials used around children matter. The Luxe Liner underwent flammability and toxicity testing as part of its development and assessment, before a single unit was sold.

Harness-interference assessment

A liner that looks good but interferes with how a harness sits is a liner that's actively working against the safety system it sits inside. The Luxe Liner's design, including its shape, position, and buckle area, was assessed throughout development to determine whether it interfered with correct harness operation.

Relevant Australian Standards

The Luxe Liner was assessed with reference to AS 8005:2020, the relevant Australian Standard for child restraint accessories.

It's an independently designed accessory and every result above reflects testing on its own merits, not a borrowed certification.

Questions worth asking before you buy any car seat liner

Whether you buy from us or somewhere else, these are worth asking:

  • Has this specific product been independently tested, or only "designed with safety in mind"?
  • What was it tested for: crash performance, flammability, toxicity, harness fit, or just one of those?
  • Which standard was it assessed against?

Thoughtfully designed. Independently tested. Made for the messy, everyday moments families actually live through.
